And it’s such a task to take on, that shedding of layers of conditioning…when you start it never stops. What I want is to see more men taking a stand for us and there are more, slowly. Lately, I’ve noticed how much this longing for equality has trickled down into (almost) mainstream entertainment, in films for instance. I’m thinking of the movie Light Of My Life in particular, written by Casey Affleck. I wept often: if only I had been raised to hear that from my father or other men, things would be different. And I thought all children need this. I hope the next generation will have had enough social positive introjection regarding it all that we’ll stop talking about gender all together and talk about acceptance of all beings instead. I’m allowed dreaming.
